Reporting to the Assistant Building Foreman, the successful candidate will assist the Supervisor/Artisan in maintaining buildings/civil works and to control Civil section stores.
- Grade 12
- 2 years relevant experience as an Artisan Assistant/Workshop environment.
- Valid Code EB driver’s license and the ability to pass Rand Water’s K53 driver test.
- Basic Safety/Fire extinguisher training
- Maintain stock level of material and stock.
- Security of stores Keep proper records of material and Spares.
- Draw material and spares from stores.
- Keep store in order, neat and clean.
- Issue tools, materials and equipment to Artisans as requested.
- Responsible for daily vehicle checks, security and control over allocated tools and equipment, safe operation of workshop machines, report all health and safety defects. Check portable electrical tools, hand tools and fire extinguishers.
- Report any defects or missing equipment to Supervisor.
- Assist Carpenters with repairing and replacing of door locks, plaguing of swollen doors, repairing of cupboard locks, fixing of notice boards and broken window panes replace.
- Assist Bricklayers to do patchwork on plastering. Minor brickwork eg. Small manholes and holes in brickwork, mix concrete and mortar, Plaster brick walls and Finish-off building work.
- General Housekeeping duties.
