Position Title
Project Software Commissioning Engineer
Location
Namakwa Sands, Mine Site (Brand se Baai), Western Cape
Position Overview
As a Project Software Commissioning Engineer, you will serve as a Software Commissioning subject matter expert on the East OFS project portfolio. You will take responsibility for assisting and supporting Construction teams with in-field Control and Instrumentation challenges and Commissioning and Functional checksof all control schemes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The position will be valid for a fixed term of one year
- Reports to the East OFS project’s Engineering Manager
- Manage and participate in the installation, and commissioning of identified electrical and instrumentation projects in line with internal & regulatory standards and procedures.
- Ensure that project data including drawings, relevant procedures, and specifications are enforced and updated as required.
- Perform quality compliance and risk mitigation and control strategies are adopted to deliver projects successfully.
- Assist in configuration and changes on Interlocks for Motors and Actuated Valve on Honeywell Experion C300 DCS (Mandatory).
- Assisting in the Power-up and Site Acceptance testing of all systems with Honeywell Experion C300 (Mandatory).
- Assisting in the changes on Honeywell Experion C300 HMI (Schematics) (Mandatory).
- Adjust transmitters, and positioners via Honeywell Field Device Manager HART protocol.
- Perform supervision activities, manage construction works, and resolve conflicts/disputes.
- Manage project stakeholders by incorporating relevant inputs into project processes and providing project progress and status reports.
- Ensure SHE management strategies are incorporated in project plans and are implemented during project execution in line with Site procedures, policies, and strategies to ensure projects are executed safely.
- Assist in ensuring and maintaining a healthy, safe, and legislative-compliant work environment.
- Ensure relevant engineering/regulatory standards are adhered to.
- Provides suitable technical support from within the department or via external consultants to all departments in response to operational requirements.
- Liaising with other engineers and clients to ensure overall client satisfaction.
- Document and report on all site work related to controls.
- Check, adjust, and troubleshoot control systems, remote data transfer systems, and other control equipment.
- Implement software modifications in control systems and/or visualization systems according to company requirements.
- Check startup interlock and alarm during commissioning
Qualifications & Experience
- Applicable B Eng, BSc (Eng) or B Tech Electrical Engineering NQF Level 7
- Computer literate – MS Office and MS Projects
- Code B driver’s license
- Minimum 5 years of Sof software Commissioning experience (Mandatory)
- Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering, design, and construction (Mandatory)
- Minimum 5 years Project Management experience (Advantage)
- Extensive experience in Automation and Instrumentation systems (Mandatory)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of Electrical would be preferable.
- Previous mine operation experience will be an advantage.
- Working knowledge (configuration/implementation) of the following systems:
- PLC, preferable Mitsubishi and Adroit Scada (Advantage).
- DCS, Honeywell Experion C300. (Mandatory).
- Extensive knowledge of Software Commissioning on Honeywell Experion C300 DCS System (Mandatory).
- Extensive working knowledge of Instrumentation & Control deliverables such as:
- Panel (JB and Marshalling) Design
- P&ID’s
- Cause and Effect Matrix
- Range, Alarm, and Trip List
- Loop Drawings
- Wiring Drawings
- Motor Control Schematics
- Instrument Location Drawings
- Instrument Installation Details
- Instrument Specifications (Datasheets)
- I/O Lists
- Bill of Materials
- Conduit/Tray/Cable Schedules
- Control Narratives
- Extensive knowledge of industry standards and codes related to Instrumentation & Control system deliverables.
- Extensive knowledge of Communications Networks. (Profinet, Profibu, and Modbus).
- Knowledge of HART protocol Instrumentation and Configuration.
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite (Mandatory).
