The Group’s five business clusters (Sanlam Fintech, Sanlam Life and Savings, Sanlam Investment Group, Sanlam Allia, nz and Santam) house the Group’s business operations. The Group Office provides strategic direction and support to the five clusters, assisting them in realizing their strategies and meeting their business objectives. The Group Office is responsible for governance and for the Group’s centralised functions, which include: Finance, Actuarial and Risk Management, Strategy, Human Resources, Market Developmen,, and Sustainability.
Under general direction, independently performs audits following the audit plan with responsibility foadmissionsns planning, performance, documentation,an d elements of reporting. The position may provide functional advice or training to less experienced audit positions. Ensures that audits are conducted ibyprofessional and laid down standards. May supervise junior Internal Auditors. Manages audit relationships with line management iregardingaudit performance and determination of remedial action.
What will make you successful in this role?
- Client relationship management (including reporting to middle management)
- Performance of complex control adequacy and control effectiveness reviews end-to-end (CARs & CERs) including drafting of test plans and sample criteria
- Supervisory role
- Plan and oversee the execution of CARs & CERs
- Assist with performing “on-the-job” quality assurance (including selected file and audit pprogramreview)
- Provides input into the annual audit plan of the business
- Transfer of knowledge to auditors and senior auditors
- Perform ad hoc assignments (e.g. management requests/projects, etc.)
- Assist management team
- Provide input to performance evaluations and staff development of auditors and senior auditors
- .Provide input to strategy execution, etc.
- External audit relationship management
- Assist with file review of CERs.
- Assist with preliminary file review of CARs.
- Assist with staff scheduling and monitoring thereof.
- Assist with the annual planning for selected clients.
- Provides input into the scoring of the internal control environment
- Reporting
- Rating of audit observations and obtaining management comments
- Drafting, issuing ,and discussing management letters
- Prepare the Finance and Risk Forum reports for review by the Audit Manager for selected clients
- Attend Finance and Risk Forums for selected clients
Qualification and Experience
Qualification:
- A completed B. Com degree in Accounting / Financial Accounting / Management Accounting or equivalent degree or Diploma in Internal Auditing
- Chartered Accountant (CA)
Experience:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with SAICA articles
- Minimum of 7 years auof dit experience of which at least 2 – 3 years of Financial Services auditing would be an advantage.
- Detailed knowledge of appropriate Financial Services
- Understand the role of control models
- Understand the concept of risk-based audit planning and execution.
- Understand all IIA Standards apecifically as itheyrelates to audit assignment execution
- .Basic understanding of sampling
- Understanding of the appropriate Corporate Governance Codes and their recommendations as itheyspecifically rrelateto internal audit and risk management
- Understand the objectives and basic process flow of major business processes
- A.bility to effectively use the basic functionality of the technology commonly used
- Detailed knowledge on how to perform a CAR and how to draft an audit test plan
- Understanding of staff management practices.
