Different Methods to Check SRD R350 Status

You can check the status of your SASSA payment and application online in a few different ways. Let me explain each method I tried. Before you can check your status, make sure that you have two items:

Using Your ID and Mobile Number

  • Your South African Identification Number
  • The mobile number that you entered in the SASSA application.

Follow the steps below to verify it.

  • Navigate to the sassasrdgrant.co.za form at the top of the page.
  • Please enter your South African ID card number and mobile phone number.
  • Click the “Check Status button.”
  • You will see your status immediately below the form.

Check Status Via Moya App

Moya App is another way I check the status of my SRD applications. The app can be downloaded without using data.

After downloading the Moya App, you won’t need the internet to access your account. Follow these steps:

  • Install the Moya app from the Play Store. (This requires internet access).
  • Once the app has been downloaded, select “SASSA GRANT” from the tab “Discovery.”
  • Click on the ” Status of the Application “.
  • Click the Submit button after entering your mobile number and ID.
  • Your status is displayed immediately on the screen after clicking the Submit button.

Checking Status via SMS

Follow these steps to status-check your SASSA Grant via SMS.

  • Text messaging is available on most mobile phones.
  • Enter the text “SASSA (ID number).” The ID number must be your valid South African ID.
  • This message can be sent to 082 046 8553.
  • Your current grant status will be sent to you in a reply.

Using WhatsApp

You can check the status of your application via WhatsApp if you cannot access the portal. Follow these steps to check your application status:

  • Add the number 082 046 85553 to your WhatsApp contacts list.
  • Send the message “SASSA to this WhatsApp number.”
  • Reply with “STATUS after the response.”
  • If you are asked to provide a reference in chat, reply “YES.” (Please only reply “YES” if the number is already known).
  • You will now be asked to provide your phone number. Enter the number of your choice (the one you registered with when you applied for the grant).
  • Then, you must reply in a chat with the reference number.
  • Your current status will be sent to you.

Phone Call Verification

You can call the SASSA Call Center at 860 601 011 if you prefer to speak to a real person to confirm your SASSA application status or to make a payment.

Understanding Your Application Status

You will receive one of these results when you check the status. Each result will be explained below, along with its meaning and what you must do.

Completed Application

You have completed your SRD grant application or reapplication. It will be checked each month until it is approved. It does not mean the payment will be made, but it is one step closer.

Status Declined

When your status says Declined, you have not met the eligibility criteria, and SASSA rejected your application. SASSA also provides you with a reason why they rejected your application.

Pending Status

SASSA received your application but needs more time to verify and review your information before they approve it and it shows pending status. Your status will be updated once they have completed their checks. You will then be notified if the grant has been approved or not.

Verification of Identity Failed

It means there was an issue verifying your ID. SASSA needed help matching the information you provided with Department of Home Affairs records.

Bank Details Pending: This indicates that SASSA has received your application/reapplication, but you did not provide the banking details or select a preferred payment method. Select your preferred payment method (Cash or Bank), or enter your bank details on the SASSA Website.

Reapplication In Progress: You haven’t submitted a new application for the SASSA grant. Please submit your application via the website. SASSA introduced the R350 grant in response to COVID-19. Later, SASSA expanded it to assist its most needy citizens. The grant is open to all unemployed citizens and those in need.

Pending Period: As the name suggests, this period is always for a particular month.
