Job Title: Junior Draughtsman and Technical Writer
Location: Centurion, On-Site
Reporting to: Configuration Manager
Salary: Market-related remuneration is based on a Total Cost to Company (TCTC) structure, including a performance bonus.

Job Purpose:
Our client specializes in supplying innovative, customized antennas and related hi-tech RF product solutions to global RF system integrators. They are seeking a dynamic, driven, and hardworking drafting professional who is self-motivated, ambitious, and able to work independently with a high degree of responsibility. This is a relatively junior position for a candidate wishing to grab the opportunity to grow with and into the company over time. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting our design and manufacturing processes through precise drafting and technical writing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed assembly drawings, as well as assembly instructions, based on engineers’ layouts.
  • Convert hand sketches into CAD using established drafting standards.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure clarity and address design questions upfront.
  • Write high-quality assembly instructions from engineering notes for production use.
  • Standardize selected pre-existing layouts and assembly drawings.
  • Incorporate redlines into original drawings following the Engineering Change Process (ECP).
  • Work independently on various projects with designers and engineers, producing detailed and assembly drawings for manufacturing or fabrication.
  • Attend design reviews and related project meetings as required.
  • Self-check and correct all work before submitting it to mechanical engineers for review.
  • Verify the nominal fit of all parts detailed from an overall layout.
  • Manage CAD files, original plots, and electronic file backups.
  • Translate electronic documents between various formats (DWG, DXF, STP, PDF, ZIP, etc.).
  • Update older drawings and perform Engineering Change Management of recorded issues.
  • N5 Multi-disciplinary Draughtsman or equivalent Diploma (Mechanical Design).
  • N6 Multi-disciplinary Draughtsman or equivalent Diploma (Mechanical Design).
  • Two to five years of experience in a design and manufacturing environment, preferably in Manufacturing, Defence, Aeronautics, Automotive, or Telecommunications industries.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Solid Works 2023 is essential.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics NAV (ERP) is advantageous.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong technical writing skills to create instructions applicable to all levels of personnel.
  • Exposure to Configuration Management and Product Data Management (PDM).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on quality improvement.
  • Proactive, diligent, and able to enforce standards and processes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and occasionally work overtime.
  • Must be able to work 100% on-site.
