Protection Services Officer (Technical)

Purpose of the Job:
Technician role: is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and control of all surveillance systems on the mine premises. The incumbent bears the responsibility to ensure that equipment is installed to the requires safety and technical specifications and has to train all end users on the usage of the system.

Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 Numeracy/NQF Level 4.
  • National Certificate/Diploma in IT
  • PSIRA Grade A.
  • At least five years’ experience in Security Services.
  • Firearm certification.
  • No Criminal record.
  • Understanding & application of Health & Safety Principles

Job Responsibilities (will include the following but not limited to):

  • Identify systems requirements aligned to business need.
  • Design systems layout aligned to business needs.
  • Manage installation of surveillance system at new projects (scope project
    requirements through effective planning and budgeting process).
  • Identify technical equipment requirements for new installations.
  • Procurements of required technical equipment.
  • Must be proficient in operating drones and cameras.
  • Obtain quotations from equipment suppliers and submit for approval by the
    Protection Services Leader.
  • Ensure quality compliance of equipment procured.
  • Ensure compliances to budget.
  • Ensure the safe and effective installation of surveillance, alarm and
    technical equipment and systems to the required standards.
  • Monitor quality of installations done by external contractors.
  • Ensure installations are done according to the required specifications and
    scope of work.
  • Manage delivery of installation to contractors to ensure timeous installation.
  • Ensure the safe and effective maintenance of surveillance and other
    technical equipment and systems to the required standards.
  • Conduct weekly site visits and inspect physical condition of equipment.
  • Conduct weekly system fault finding activities.
  • Identify potential system deficiencies and recommend
    alternative/improvement actions.
  • Ensure that cameras lenses and equipment are always clean and well
    maintained to the required standards.
  • Conduct weekly maintenance on technical equipment.
  • Conduct weekly testing of alarm systems.
  • Maintain effective access controls.
  • Ensure maintenance and repairs of access control systems and equipment
    are done according to the required standards to ensure optimal functional.
  • Train end -user on surveillance system utilisation.
  • Conduct weekly surveillance, access control and alarm systems audits.
  • Conduct site inspections to determine equipment conditions.
  • Evaluate system effectiveness.
  • Conducting maintenance activities on surveillance Equipment.
  • Identifications of potential system failures/equipment breakdowns.
  • Identify improvements ideas optimise systems.
  • Compile accurate audits reports for corrective actions.

Occupational Hygienist (DL)
Bokoni Platinum Mines is an ARM owned mining operation situated on the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex.
This operation is planned to produce circa 400,000 oz per annum. Its project plan includes the construction of new decline shafts with combined capacity of 240,000 tons per month, a new concentrator plant, tailings storage facility and associated surface and underground infrastructure.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Occupational Hygienist
The position will be based at Bokoni Platinum Mines at Atok (Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality, Sekhukhune District Municipality in Limpopo.

Purpose of the Job:
The Occupational Hygienist will carry the section 12(1) of the Mine Health and Safety Act for the surface area (Clinic, Plant, TSF, main office, Atokia Village and security services offices).

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Health Sciences/Mining/Engineering or other related
    fields.
  • Mine Environmental Control Certificate.
  • Must have minimum of 5 experience as VOHE Officer or Occupational
    Hygienist in the mining industry.
  • At least minimum of 3 years in Supervisory position.
  • Must have minimum of 2 years previous experience on management.
  • Registration with SAIOH as an Occupational Hygienist will be added
    advantage.
  • Valid Driver`s Licence Code B/EB.

Job Responsibilities (will include the following but not limited to):

  • Plan, implement, control, and monitor approved changes to area of
    responsibility to respond to changes in the industry, legislation, and other
    related matters including transformation and optimisation. Assist with
    workplace readiness assessment.
  • Obtain, check, and refine information. Collate and submit reports. Run data
    exception reports and take corrective action. Conduct document control
    spot-checks.
  • Identify recurring problems and derive creative solutions involving team
    members. Recognise and reward team member efforts.
  • Plan, direct, and assess  Quality Management within sub-function and
    recommend remedial actions where necessary to ensure adherence to TQM
    principles.
  • Promote and assure adherence to safety, health, and environmental
    procedures. Identify unsafe and hazardous situations. Diagnose incidents
    and accidents by completing root cause analyses and take corrective action.
    Conduct risk assessments. Stop work in unsafe areas. Ensure safety
    programs are executed.
  • Provide input into functional planning. Interpret functional plan and develop
    sub-functional plans.
  • Manage the efficient and effective utilisation of resources. Optimise systems
    and processes continuously to ensure production efficiency targets and
    operational plans are met.
  • Optimise the core operational internal processes and internal supply chain
    and resolve operational conflicts.
  • Plan, direct and assess  Quality Management within function and implement
    remedial actions. Ensure VOHE reports and audit quality.
  • Promote establishing active, informative relations with internal stakeholders.
    Facilitate solutions for unresolved disputes and present to the VOH
    Engineer. Act as representative of the organisation at stakeholder forums in
    the absence of the VOH Engineer.
  • Implement own Development Plan. Develop and coach team members and
    encourage knowledge transfer. Mentor subordinates once removed.
    Analyse trends and identify competence training gaps and action.
  • Implement and manage people development (i.e. performance
    management of VOHE Officer(s) and Observer(s)) to meet functional
    performance standards. Ensure engaged employees.
  • Accountable for the function’s performance, within the agreed strategic
    KPI’s and approved plans.
